Scanners
The scanner is an electronic device on a par with the office photocopier but instead of producing a hard copy it produces a digitised copy for viewing and editing on a PC, laptop or Mac. Scanners have become an important part of the home office, graphic design and photographers arsenal over the last few years.

Night photography
Since photographs require the presence of light and lack of it makes taking photographs very tough, taking night photographs is still an unexplored field for many. With a good camera and lens, some basic skills, and a bit of imagination, you can produce startling, eye-catching, images.

The role of light
The literal translation of the word photography is "painting with light" no light = no photograph it's as simple as that. Whether we supply the light with a strobe or a constant light source or we use available light it must be there in some form. Remember the photographer's adage, 'if you can see it, you can photograph it.'

Shutter and shutter speed
The shutter is a moveable cover in front of the lens that helps you control the amount of sunlight that’s allowed into the lens. The shutter blocks the passage of light travelling through the lens to the film when it is closed, and allows light to reach the film when it is open. Shutters may be composed of blades, a curtain, a plate or a movable cover.

Sports photography
All types of sport are filled with emotion, happiness, sadness, love and hate its up to the photographer to choose their moment to highlight these.

So many formats!
You decide you want a new camera. Whether it is for pure point and shoot photography or whether you’re looking to get a bit more serious, the array of camera types is large; and its getting larger as we speak. Although the vast majority of photographers are now going digital it’s always good to know a little about what else is out there…..even if you do have to dig a little to find it! Here is a brief outline of the different types of camera you may be faced with.
